The purpose of the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank is to provide needy families in Lehigh County supplies of food for a short time to help them over rough spots in their lives. The food bank serves all people, regardless of race or creed, and operates along the following guidelines:

  • Clients must provide a valid photo ID
  • Clients must provide evidence of Lehigh County residence (typically a piece of mail with their name and address)
  • Once per year, clients must provide valid photo ID for all adults in the household as well as a proof of residence for each (typically a piece of mail with their name and address)
  • Once per year, clients must provide proof their children live in their homes (Medicaid insurance card, school or doctor’s record with child’s name and address)
  • Clients may request food once every 4 weeks. Emergency cases are considered as they occur
  • Every July the food bank must recertify clients for the USDA. The above documents are needed at that time
